A TASTE OF JAZZ – on March 4, from 6:30-8:30 PM in fellowship hall.  The evening will include amazing door prizes, courtesy of the Wichita Jazz Festival, and varied delicious heavy hors d’oeuvres.  The entertainment will be provided by the extremely talented jazz trio, Billy’s Bounce, which features Mark Mazur-piano; Jim Keefer-bass; and Bill Glenn-drums.  Tickets for “A Taste of Jazz” are $20.00.

THE HONORABLE RICHARD D. GREENE SPEAKER SERIES – Join us for a community conversation with Leonard Pitts, Jr. at Saint Mark United Methodist Church at 1525 N Lorraine St., Wichita, KS. It is on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 6:00-9:00pm. and on Saturday, March 7, from 9:30-11:30am. There is no charge at the door, but there will be a free will offering.  Everyone is welcome! Tickets will be handed out by the ushers after worship each Sunday until March 1.

SPRING FELLOWSHIP DINNERS –  This is the last Sunday to sign up in fellowship hall for the Spring Fellowship Dinners, which will take place in March and April.  Attending the dinners is a good way to become better acquainted with other UCC members and to meet people you may not know.  The host furnishes the entree, and all the guests bring a dish.  Anyone is welcome. If you are willing to host, please indicate the number of people you can accommodate for dinner.

OUTREACH thanks Grace Kneil, coordinator and cook and all those who helped to deliver and serve a dinner of lasagna, salad and cookies to Gammon Elementary teachers during Parent/Teacher conferences this week. If you’ve been a teacher, you know what a gift this outreach project is! Thank you.

FIRST TUESDAY HOMELESS MEALS OUTREACH – has drawn to a close but not before serving four meals to 280 men and women directly and 200 men, women and children indirectly since its inception last November. This monthly outreach during the winter is a win/win project: UCC serves our food to people at the Men’s Winter Overflow Shelter and anything not used finds its way to locations for others in need to enjoy. Nothing is wasted. Your support of the Homeless Meal project helps us define who we are. Looking back on the success of this project, we know that UCC cares for Wichitans in need. Thank you to each and all.

PARISH INFORMATION CENTER – PIC BOARD for short. The UCC PIC board is located in fellowship hall.  It is a tri-fold six foot tall bulletin board covered in burgundy fabric.  The PIC board displays registration sheets for upcoming events at UCC, information about upcoming events at UCC and in the community, and thank you notes and newsletters from community partners, members, and letters from members that have moved away, etc… There is also a wellness corner that features news articles about current health and wellness topics. And a members corner with articles written by UCC members and staff, or about UCC members.

IFM SOUPER BOWL 2020 is Friday, January 31, from 11:00-2:00, at Exploration Place at 300 N McLean Blvd. Early bird tickets are $20, and $30 at the door. Join us the Friday before that other Bowl for all-you-can-eat soup to benefit HumanKind Ministries homeless shelters! Soups from your favorite chefs and restaurants will be featured along with beautiful handmade bowls, fresh bread, homemade desserts, beverages, and live music. We have been asked to provide baked goods again this year. No cookies, but cakes, pies, single serve desserts, tarts, rice Krispee treats, bars, etc. are needed. Please sign-up on the PIC board if you can donate some desserts.

Our menu is the following: 15–2# meatloaves; Costco’s mixed vegetables; funeral potatoes; and slab fruit pie. HEAD-TO-TOE HYGIENE PANTRY – No workday this week. The Pantry is open on Saturday, December 21, from 9:00-11:30 a.m.  Located at 2130 E. 21st St. N.

BLANKET COLLECTION FOR OPERATION HOLIDAYToday is the last day that we are accepting blanket and coat donations. Please bring new full or queen size blankets and coats to the Operation Holiday collection box in fellowship hall.

COLORING BOOKS WANTED The Head-to-Toe Hygiene Pantry is collecting children’s coloring books to distribute to children that visit the pantry on December 21.  They do not need crayons this time.  Please bring the coloring books to fellowship hall and drop them in the bins designated for the pantry.

CHRISTMAS VESPERS – there will be music, poetry and scripture on
December 22, at 4:00pm.  Listen to Helen Griffin, piano, and Laura Williams, organ with special guests: JoyAnn Brake, flautist, with vocalists Carter Tholl and Mike Mays. Please bring a donation item for the hygiene pantry.  There will be a reception following in the parlor.

CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICE – will be held on December 24, at 7:00pm, in the sanctuary, with communion.
