NEXT WEEK

ENDOWMENT BOARD ANNUAL MEETING – on Sunday, March 3, 2019, in the sanctuary immediately following worship service .

HOUSE CHURCH – The first House Church meetings begin on March 5th. One group will be at Bill and Vicki Skaer’s, the other group will be at Sharon and Burt Tims home.  We are mixing up the two groups and inviting new people to join either one.   The book we are using is The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander, available at Amazon.com. Everything I read today on racism, racial disparity and separateness starts with, “We need to begin the conversation!” We’ve begun. Won’t you join us?   Please contact Bill and Vicki Skaer (wcskaer@aol.com) or Emily Hurt edgehurt@aol.com) if you plan to take part in the conversation. We begin at 7:00pm and end at 8:30pm, on Tuesday, March 5.

COOK’S NIGHT OUT – Mark your calendar for Cook’s Night Out on Thursday, March 7, at 6:00 PM in fellowship hall.  The SmorgasChorus will be entertaining us.  Burt Tims, Romy Gerould, and Michael Mays, members of our UCC Choir, are members of this renowned, nationally recognized men’s chorus with a unique acapella sound. This group took the stage in front of 7000 people at the Axis Theater at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas, in 2017 to compete with top-rated choruses internationally in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s international competition.  They placed 16th in the world!
Tickets are on sale this Sunday in fellowship hall following the service.
TRAVEL SIZE SUPPLIES NEEDED – We are taking supplies year round for the hygiene bags that we provide to the InterFaith Ministries Men’s Overflow Shelter.  We are only requesting travel size shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc… You may drop it in the box marked IFM Hygiene Bags in fellowship hall.

DINNER FOR THE HOMELESS – UCC volunteers served an evening meal to 115 men and women at the Men’s Winter Homeless Shelter in December and found it an easy and satisfying experience. So, we’re doing it again! We’ve chosen Friday, March 29 as our Shelter dinner date.
Bring your coffee to the Parlor this Sunday, Feb. 24 and we’ll talk about the particulars. (If meal prep is not your thing, a small check will help!)
