OUTREACH PROJECT – for Gammon School Supply Closet contiues.  For the second year, our Gammon partnership is focused on increasing availability of high-demand supplies for classrooms, teachers, and individual students from families with economic challenges.  Over the next three weeks, we invite you to contribute dollars toward the Gammon School Supply Closet.  One of the most socially- and culturally- diverse public schools in Wichita, Gammon is located two miles northwest of UCC.  During the past year, supplies purchased by our dollars were used before the year ended, so we’ve targeted our 2018 goal to $5,000!  You may leave a check at the Outreach table in fellowship hall or mail it to the church office., 9209 E 29th St. N., 67226.

ALL CHURCH PICNIC will be held on Sunday, June 10th, at 11:30am. This event is sponsored by the Deacons and they will provide all of the food and beverages. Deadline to sign-up is Sunday June 3rd. Casual dress is encouraged.

ITALY TRIP MEETING will be held on Sunday, June 10th, at 9:00am in fellowship hall. We will explore the early church, wine and food pairing, and a cooking class. If you are interested, come to the meeting to learn more.

HOMELESS HYGIENE BAGS – The Outreach board is collecting hotel shampoo, lotion and soaps. We will be assembling the bags, along with the help of the congregation, after worship on June 24, in fellowship hall. The bags will be given to Interfaith Ministries for their homeless program. Last year your donations filled 100 baggies with hygiene items. Look for a box in fellowship hall for your hotel hygiene items.

PLEASE JOIN US on September 28-29 at University Congregational Church for the Richard Greene Lecture Series – Jesus Seminar on the Road: The Political Jesus led by Arthur J. Dewey and Celene Lillie

The Jesus of history resisted the political and social realities of his day. Early Christians did the same. Neither one was necessarily successful in their aims, but what do we know about their attitudes toward the economy, immigrants, and war? How did Jesus and emerging Christ communities express concerns for justice and peace? Looking at the world today, what would they say about American politics?
