SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE is during our worship service today. This is a time to remember loved ones that have passed away by coming forward and lighting a
candle.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING is today at 11:30, in the sanctuary. Please stay seated if you plan to attend so that we can get started immediately following worship.  The purpose of the meeting is to vote on the bylaws.

HOUSE CHURCH STUDY – is Tuesday, November 5, from 7:00-8:30pm, at Flentje house, 543 N Birkdale Court. Please join us anytime you can for the next three Tuesdays.  The next two essays from the 1619 Project series are: “Sugar” and “A Broken Healthcare System.” Contact Marla Flentje with questions at 250-1344.

HOMELESS MEAL – This Tuesday, November 5, at 6:00pm, UCC is serving a warm meal to 120 cold customers at the Homeless Overflow Shelter, 821 N Market. If you can contribute to this meal, choose from the following menu items: 8 dozen Corn Muffins; 10 bags Corn Chips; 8 dozen Brownies. COOKS’ NIGHT OUT – is November 7, at 6:00. An evening of Celebration of Flint Hills Music Featuring the Tallgrass Express String Band (including Peg and Bill Browning’s daughter Annie Wilson) And Jack Christie’s brisket–a downhome dinner. $15 tickets available in fellowship hall.

SANDWICH SATURDAY is on Saturday, November 9, at 10:30a.m., at St. John’s Episcopal Church.  We are assembling sandwiches on Friday, November 8 at 5:30 in the UCC kitchen.  We need volunteers to help with sandwich assembly.  If interested in helping please just show up at the church at 5:30.

YOGA meets every Tuesday at 4:00, Thursday at 6:00, and Friday, at 10:00, in
fellowship hall. The cost for the Tuesday and Thursday class is $5, because it is
instructor led.

NEXT WEEK

HEAD-TO-TOE HYGIENE PANTRY workday is this Thursday, November 14, from 9-11am, at 2130 E. 21st St. N. The Pantry is open on Saturday,
November 16, from 9:00-11:30 a.m.

ALTERNATIVE GIFT MARKET is on Saturday, November 9, from 10:00 – 4:00, at First Presbyterian Church.  The market features charitable gifts starting at only $1.00, fair-trade crafts and foods, café lunch, and more. Admission is free.  Your purchase helps to alleviate poverty, hunger, and injustice around the world.

COLLECTING WINTER COATS FOR GAMMON STUDENTS – With the arrival of cold weather, we have learned that some Gammon students from low-income families are coming to school without heavier coats, making bus waits and playground time especially difficult.  If you have gently-used children’s coats, sizes 5 – 12, in your family that are no longer being used, please consider donating them for a Gammon student.  You may bring coats to the designated area in Fellowship Hall during the next few Sundays.  Of course, new coats will also be welcomed! 

HONDURAN EMBOSSED CARDS – on sale Sunday, November 10, in fellowship hall after worship. The proceeds benefit the Hygiene Pantry and help to pay for the coloring books that Barbara McKee takes to Honduras each year.

BABY SHOWER TIME – The UCC Women’s Guild annual baby shower is on Wednesday, October 30, at 11 a.m. in fellowship hall. We will decorate bags, have a lunch of soup and sandwiches and then fill the bags with articles needed for newborn babies. The bags will be distributed to agencies that work with underprivileged mothers and babies. Everyone is welcome to attend.  The Guild will provide diapers, wipes, lotion and shampoo. The congregation is asked to help by providing gowns/sleepers or an outfit, onesies, socks, hats, warm blankets, and toys (for babies 0 – 3 months). Please place items in the box designated for the shower in fellowship hall.

parlor. We will focus on the 1619 Project. Commissioned by the New York Times in partnership with the Smithsonian, the 1619 Project re-examines the legacy of slavery in the U.S. The Project is timed for the 400^th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved people from West Africa and includes historical essays, poems, and fiction. House Church facilitators will lead discussion of selected essays.  Everyone is welcome, and you need not attend each session. This session is four weeks through November 12. CLEANING CREW NEEDED – Friday, October 25th, 9:30 a.m.  The Outreach Board invites you to join us in putting the final cleaning touches on a new Habitat for Humanity home located at 1311 N Estelle.  The Barahuni family, originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, have put in many hours of “sweat equity” and are anxiously awaiting to move in.  All cleaning supplies will be available.
