Minister

The minister of University Congregational Church will officiate at all weddings at the church and has responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the wedding, including the Order of Service. When it is the wish of the bride and groom to have another minister (i.e., relative of family or family minister) assist with the service, this should be made known to our minister who will offer the other minister that he or she may participate in the ceremony by doing a reading or saying a prayer. The minister of UCC will meet with you as a couple prior to the ceremony to discuss your vows and personalize your ceremony.

Wedding Coordinator

Part of our Wedding policy is to provide each couple with a wedding coordinator. She is available to answer questions from the time the couple decides to have their wedding at UCC and to make sure everything goes smoothly at the rehearsal and on the wedding day.

Building Use

The church will be available to you for a one-hour rehearsal, 3 hours before the start of the wedding ceremony and 1 hour after the ceremony. With seating up to 300 guests, the church is beautiful in its simple elegance and does not require much in the way of decorations. The church is available for small receptions for members but is not available for non-member receptions.

Wedding Costs

If one member of the couple to be married is a participating member of University Congregational Church for at least one year prior to the wedding date, or if parents, grandparents, children, or grandchildren of at least one partner are current members, the fee for a wedding at UCC is $1050.00. If the persons to be married are not members and are not related to members of the congregation, the fee will be $1700.00. The fee in both cases cover the services of the minister, wedding coordinator, pianist/organist, custodial services, rehearsal, sanctuary, brides room, and area in the lower level for the groom and groomsmen. Additional Information You may click on Nonmember Wedding Guidelines or Non-member Wedding Guidelines for more information. You are also welcome to contact Cyndi Richter or call 461-4148 and she will provide you with a copy of our Wedding Guidelines and check availability of dates. When you decide to have your wedding at UCC, a nonrefundable deposit of $250.00 is required to hold your wedding date. The deposit can be applied if you move your date but will not be refunded if you cancel the date.

Wedding receptions in Fellowship Hall are only available to members of the church. All arrangements for the receptions will be coordinated with the Women’s Guild. Members may obtain information about the receptions from Cyndi Richter at (316) 634-0430 or Cellphone 316-461-4148.
