CHILI COOK-OFF- Today at 11:30 in fellowship hall. Come and taste different kinds of chili, vote for your favorite to help select the UCC Chili Royalty, and then enjoy a big bowl of chili, cornbread and dessert. All good-will offerings will support our Hygiene Pantry. Sponsored by the Outreach board.
THIS WEEK
WEDNESDAY NIGHT ALIVE – “The Most Dangerous Book in the World”, a progressive Bible study on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00, September 11-October 30. You will need a New Revised Standard Version Bible.
MENS’ LUNCH is Thursday, October 17, at 11:30, at Scotch & Sirloin. The guest speaker is Mike Kennedy, the voice of the Shockers, will talk about the coming season of men’s basketball.
HEAD-TO-TOE HYGIENE PANTRY is open on Saturday, October 17, from 9:00-11:30 a.m., at 2130 E. 21st St. N. There is no workday this week.
YOGA meets every Tuesday at 4:00, Thursday at 6:00, and Friday, at 10:00, in
fellowship hall. The cost for the Tuesday and Thursday class is $5, because it is
instructor led.

NEW HOUSE CHURCH STUDY – begins October 22, at 7:00pm, in the UCC
parlor. We will focus on the 1619 Project. Commissioned by the New York Times in partnership with the Smithsonian, the 1619 Project re-examines the legacy of slavery in the U.S. The Project is timed for the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved people from West Africa and includes historical essays, poems, and fiction. House Church facilitators will lead discussion of selected essays. Everyone is welcome, and you need not attend each session. This session is four weeks through November 12. LARKSFIELD DISCUSSION GROUP meets on Wednesday, October 23,, at 10:00 a.m., in the Larksfield club room.
BABY SHOWER TIME- The UCC Women’s Guild annual Baby Shower is on Wednesday, October 30, at 11 a.m. in fellowship hall. We will decorate bags, have a lunch of soup and sandwiches and then fill the bags with articles needed for newborn babies. The bags will be distributed to agencies that work with underprivileged mothers and babies. Everyone is welcome to attend. The Guild will provide diapers, wipes, lotion and shampoo. The congregation is asked to help by providing gowns/sleepers or an outfit, onesies, socks, hats, warm blankets, and toys (for babies 0 – 3 months). Please place items in the box designated for the shower in fellowship hall.
NOTICE OF CONGREGATIONAL CAFÉ — will be held on October 27, at 11:45 in fellowship hall to review the changes to the bylaws.
FIRST TUESDAYS – Please mark the first Tuesday in November and December on your calendars as they are the Tuesdays we serve 120 meals to the homeless men and women in Wichita at the Winter Overflow Shelter at 829 Market Street. Sign-up on the PIC board in fellowship hall if interested in participating.
