JustHope Partner Trip – Chacraseca Nicaragua

Partnering in Hope:  A JustHope Partner Trip
with
University Congregational Church
and
Chacraseca, Nicaragua
January 13-20, 2018

Activities

Our primary activity will be to grow our relationship with our global neighbors – learning about their culture; experiencing daily life with them; and hearing their struggles, hopes, and dreams.  We will also engage with them in working to realize some of their dreams, and support various projects in the community (yet to be determined).  Some possibilities for other activities; participate in a story exchange with local women, cooking together, visit micro-enterprises, art projects with children, and much more!  And, of course, there will be time for a bit of sightseeing!

Accommodations

We will spend the nights in a modest hotel and at the Casa de Paz retreat house in Chacraseca.  Participants will also have the opportunity to spend one night with a family.  We will eat tipico Nicaraguan food (mostly rice and beans) prepared by the community.

Travelers will be limited to one carry-on suitcase per person for the trip.  It’s a chance to see what we can do without!

Costs and Registration

The cost will be $825 (with 8 or more participants; with fewer than 8, the cost will increase), plus airfare to Managua.  This covers lodging, meals, in-country transportation, interpreter expenses, and trip coordination and leadership.  Additional personal costs include meals en route, $10 entrance visa, souvenirs, and any unscheduled activities/meals the team decides to add.

A $200, nonrefundable deposit is due with your registration by October 15.  the balance is due by November 11.  Participants should be in good health, able to walk at least 1/4 mile, and must be pre-approved by the group leader.  Register online at JustHope.org.
