Congregational Church, Wichita, KS as provided for in the church’s bylaws. The meeting will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2016 in the sanctuary

CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS must be delivered or postmarked on or before December 31st, in order to claim a charitable contribution deduction in 2015. Checks should be made payable to: University Congregational Church. Be sure to indicate “2015 Contribution”, on the memo line. We also take credit cards now. In addition, wait to file your tax return until after you receive your statement from the church to insure that all of your contributions are tax deductible. If you have questions, please contact Val at 634-0430.

The Fourth Sunday in Advent

Sermon Title: A Candle of Love

The Children’s Christmas Tableau will take place during today’s service

Fourth Sunday of Advent—Love

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS TABLEAU will be performed todday during the Time for All Children.

THIS WEEK

CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICE is on Thursday,
December 24, at 6:00 pm. Please join us for this beautiful family service with
Christmas Carols, lighting of the advent candles, meditations, and special
music. Offering will go to the Wichita Children’s Home.

OPEN DOOR HOMELESS RESOURCE CTR works closely with the local homeless population to serve lunch to approx. 200 people per day. We have agreed to provide tube socks filled with various snacks and hygiene
products. Please help us reach our goal of 150 filled socks. Visit the table in Fellowship Hall to view a sample sock and pick up additional information about this project. We will also be collecting apples, oranges, and bananas. Items will be distributed Dec. 23. There is a box on the table for donations if you prefer to have us do the shopping for you. This Sunday, December 20 is the last day for donations.

Third Sunday of Advent—Joy

SPECIAL CHRISTMAS MUSIC is featured today throughout the
worship service. Many musicians are present from the Wichita Symphony
Orchestra, Wichita State University, and the UCC Chancel Choir, all directed by Dr. Michael Hanawalt.

THE CE BOARD will meet in the Science and Exploration Room.
THE MUSIC BOARD will meet in the room beside the choir room.
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES will meet in the conference room.
All meetings are at 11:45

THIS WEEK

WOMEN’S GUILD WORKDAY & LUNCH is Wednesday, December 16, at 11:00am, in Fellowship Hall, followed by lunch at noon. We will be
assembling Christmas baskets for members that are unable to get out much. All supplies are provided by the Guild. There will also be short meeting to elect 2016 officers. There is a sign-up sheet on the PIC board if you would like to attend the workday. Lunch is $7.00. If you are available to deliver the baskets before Christmas please contact Kathryn @ 316-644-3157.

IFM OPERATION HOLIDAY We are also collecting food items in
Fellowship Hall for this organization. Bring any of the following items to
Fellowship Hall: cereal, canned fruit, peanut butter, and canned meat, and
deposit them in the box marked Operation Holiday. This Sunday, 12/13, is the last day for food donations.

DEACON’S BOARD meet at 11:45 in the area outside the downstairs kitchen.

ISLAMIC SOCIETY OF WICHITA panel discussion “Islam as a Faith and Way of Life” is today Sunday, December 6, at 6:00p.m., at the Muslim Community Center, 6655 E.34th St., Dinner & Program, Meal $11 pp in advance, $13 at the door, program without meal is free. For additional information see the flyer on the PIC board in
Fellowship Hall.

THIS WEEK

ALL CHURCH CHRISTMAS PARTY is Saturday, December 12, at 6:00pm, in Fellowship Hall. Great food, music, and singing. The Crowson’s bluegrass Christmas band will be performing. If your last name begins with
A-N, bring an appetizer, O-Z, bring a dessert. There is a sign-up sheet located on the PIC board in Fellowship Hall. This is the last Sunday to sign-up.

Operation Holiday. Distribution for these items will be Dec. 17-19. There is a sign-up sheet on the PIC board for volunteers at Operation Holiday’s distribution center the morning of December 18. We need 20 volunteers.

SPECIAL CHRISTMAS MUSIC will be featured next Sunday, December will be featured on Sunday, December 13, during 10:30 worship service. Come and bring your friends and family to experience some beautiful music.
