PENTECOST DAY is today, May 15, this year. Pentecost is 50 days after Easter and celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit to the early church. This is why many people call Pentecost “the birthday of the church”. Pentecost reminds us that God continues to be with us today and offers the Holy Spirit to empower us and encourage us in the faith. The symbols for Pentecost/The Holy Spirit are doves, flames, and wind. Our banners today are indicative of the “Gifts of the Spirit” and “The Flames of the Spirit”. A brief description follows:

The Gifts of the Spirit are: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness,
Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-Control.
