Sermon Title: “Re-Imagine the World”

Leigh Aaron-Leary and Mike Leary: the flowers are to honor three cherished people who are no longer with us: our son David, and Leigh’s parents Evelyn and Joseph
Aaron. David’s birthday was 8/30, and their anniversary was 8/31.

YOGA meets every Tuesday at 4:00 and Friday, at 10:00. The cost for the Tuesday class is $5, because it is instructor led.

CHOIR KICK-OFF and pizza party for all choir members on Wednesday, September 6, at 7:00 p.m., in the basement.

FALL KICK-OFF—Please join us for the “Fall Kick-Off Potluck/Ice Cream Social”, to welcome back our fabulous choir, on September 10th, in fellowship hall directly following the worship service.

Please feel free to bring your favorite dish with the exception of desserts, as the
Deacons will provide ice cream and toppings. Plus, there will be special events and activities for the children, which will be provided by the Christian Education board.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT ALIVE begins on September 13, at 6:00 p.m., and runs ten weeks thru November 15. Join us as we discuss Delwin Brown’s book “What Does a Progressive Christian Believe”. Order your book online using the ISBN# 13:9781596270848. The paperback is $15.98; and the Kindle version is $9.99. The church office will not be ordering any books for the class. Everyone is welcome to
attend the class.

FALL FELLOWSHIP DINNERS—You are invited to be a part of the Fall Fellowship Dinners at UCC. There will be one dinner scheduled in October and one in November. The exact dates will be determined once registration is complete.

The dinners are a wonderful way for UCC members and visitors to get better acquainted. There will be a group of 6-10 who will meet in someone’s home for a pot-luck
dinner and an evening of fellowship and fun.

If you are interested please sign the sheet on the PIC board in fellowship hall. If you are willing to host a dinner, we would appreciate your signing up to be a host. Please indicate in the last column the number people you can accommodate in your home (including host/hosts) The final date for registration is Sunday, September 10th.

AMALGAMA TICKETS on sale this week. Amalgama is a musical group from the city of Leon, Nicaragua. Their music is Cuban inspired, as they love the trova, and the national music of their homeland. Amalgama will perform a concert at Prairie Pines, 4055 N Tyler Road, Maize, KS, on Thursday, September 28, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $22, and may be purchased in the UCC church office 9:00-3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. SPECIAL THANKS to Barb Mohney for her work in coordinating all of the recent renovations here at UCC. It took a great deal of her time and efforts. Thank you, Barb. HEAD-TO-TOE HYGIENE PANTRY—There is no workday on Thursday, August 17. The Pantry is open on Saturday, August 19, from 9:00-11:30 at 2130 E. 21st St. North.

FILLING THE GAP runs from Monday, July 31 through Friday, August 18, from 11:45-1:15, Monday through Friday.

We are in need of some children’s books at Filling the Gap. Now would be a good time to go through your books at home and see if you have some that your children or grandchildren have outgrown. Just bring them to the church.

634-0430, if you or someone you know will need a ride on Sunday. Deacons have volunteers available to provide rides. Please call by the Friday before the ride is needed.
