Sermon Title: “Finding Purpose”

THIS WEEK

CHURCH OFFICES CLOSED – On New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2020.  On New Year’s Eve, December 31, office hours will be from
9:00-Noon.

YOGA – Classes will be held this week on Thursday at 4:00 pm and Friday at 10:00am.

NEXT WEEK

YOGA meets every Tuesday at 4:00, Thursday at 6:00, and Friday, at 10:00, in fellowship hall. The cost for the Tuesday and Thursday class is $5, because it is instructor led.

2019 CONTRIBUTIONS must be received or postmarked by midnight 12/31/19, due to legal requirements. Anything received after that date will be recorded as a 2020 contribution.

THE 2020 FLOWER SCHEDULE is on the PIC board in fellowship hall. Sign up early to get your preferred date. There is a copy of the 2019 schedule on the back if you need a reminder of your preferred date.

FIRST TUESDAY HOMELESS MEALS – January 7th, 2020 is the next First Tuesday meal at the Men’s Winter Overflow Homeless Shelter. We are planning for 120 meals for the men at this shelter and the women across the street. Our menu is the following:  Sloppy Joes and cabbage slaw (Grace’s recipes), individual bags of potato chips, and…yes, brownies again! You’re becoming experts!  While we need about 12 dozen brownies, we also need buns for the Sloppy Joes, and you can help with both or either. PLEASE

CHRISTMAS VESPERS – Join us today at 4:00pm. There will be music, poetry and scripture. Listen to Helen Griffin, piano, and Laura Williams, organ with special guests: JoyAnn Brake, flutist, Ann Reddy, harpist, with vocalists Carter Tholl and Mike Mays.

CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICE – will be held on December 24, at 7:00pm, in the sanctuary, with communion.

LARKSFIELD CLASS meets on December 18, at 10:00 a.m., in the club room at Larksfield.  Everyone is welcome.

HEAD-TO-TOE HYGIENE PANTRY – No workday this week. The Pantry is open on Saturday, December 21, from 9:00-11:30 a.m.  Located at 2130 E. 21st St. N.

YOUR ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED for the Christmas Eve Service 7:00 p.m., on December 24.  We are looking for volunteers to light the advent candles and read some scriptures.  If you are willing to be a participant please contact Heidi in the church office at heidi@box2384.temp.domains, or by phone at 634-0430.

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PLAY – is today during worship. The play is titled “No Room!”.

THIS WEEK

WOMEN’S GUILD will gather on Wednesday, December 11, at 10:30 a.m., in fellowship hall to assemble baskets for members of our congregation that are unable to attend on Sundays or are recovering from an illness or surgery. It is open for any female member or visitor who’d like to help. Afterwards we will go to lunch at Oh Yeah China Bistro at 29th & Rock Road, for anyone who want to come.

BLANKET COLLECTION FOR OPERATION HOLIDAYToday is the last day that we are accepting blanket and coat donations. Please bring new full or queen size blankets and coats to the Operation Holiday collection box in fellowship hall.
