THE MESSIAH SYMPOSIUM a discussion on Handel’s Oratorio The Messiah to be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 5:30pm, in the UCC Fellowship Hall. Hosted by Robin McGonigle and Paul Ellis Jackson, the symposium will feature a discussion on Dr. Michael Hanawalt’s preparation of the Wichita Symphony Chorus (which he leads) and the Reverends Carl Martin and Keith Willliamson. This is
intended to provide some insights into the history of the piece and how its melodies and text reverberate through the ages. The Wichita Symphony will be presenting
Handel’s The Messiah on Saturday, December 5th at 8:00pm and Sunday, December 6th at 3:00pm.

ALL CHURCH CHRISTMAS PARTY is Saturday, December 12, at 6:00pm, in Fellowship Hall. Great food, music, and singing. The Crowson’s bluegrass Christmas band will be performing. If your last name begins with A-N, bring an appetizer, O-Z, bring a dessert. There is a sign-up sheet located on the PIC board in Fellowship Hall.

OPEN DOOR HOMELESS RESOURCE CTR works closely with the local homeless population to serve lunch to approx. 200 people per day. Our church will provide tube socks filled with various snacks and hygiene products. Please visit the table in Fellowship Hall to see a sample sock and for additional information about this project. We will also be collecting apples, oranges, and bananas. Items will be distributed Dec. 23. There is a box on the table for monetary donations if you prefer to have us do the shopping for you.

IFM OPERATION HOLIDAY We are also collecting food items in Fellowship Hall for this organization. Bring any of the following items to Fellowship Hall: cereal, canned fruit, peanut butter, and canned meat, and deposit them in the box marked Operation Holiday. Distribution for these items will be Dec. 17-19. There is a sign-up sheet on the PIC board for volunteers at Operation Holiday’s distribution center the morning of December 18. We need 20 volunteers.

FALL FELLOWSHIP DINNERS It’s time to register in Fellowship Hall on the PIC board. You may sign up this Sunday.  There is room for 94 participants based on the number of people who volunteered to be hosts.  People who volunteered to be hosts are welcome to sign up to attend a dinner as well and should sign again on the PIC board as guests.      

 

SPONSOR A STUDENT Music Program. Please consider becoming a student choir member sponsor. Sponsorship is $1,500 per student or $150 per month or you can donate an amount of your choice. The campaign will continue through the end of September. Indicate “Student Scholarship” on check.

 

STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN MARCH & RALLY  ICT Acts is hosting a March and Rally to raise awareness for violence against women on Sunday, October 11, at 1:00 pm. The March will begin at Exploration Place. It is open and free to the public, www.ictacts.org .
The Congregation of University Congregational Church is invited to witness the exchange of marriage vows of Paul Jackson and Duane Ellis on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 4:00 PM here at the church. Reception to follow. Please RSVP on the PIC board in Fellowship Hall.

REVELATIONS is tonight, Sunday, 9/20, at 6:00pm, in Fellowship Hall. The cost is $20 and all proceeds go to the Music Student Scholarship Fund.

 

THE WOMEN’S GUILD have raffle tickets available in Fellowship Hall after the worship service for a suggested donation of $1 each, 12 tickets for $10, or 25 tickets for $20.  Baskets donated for the raffle are on display in Fellowship Hall.  Tickets will be available through the end of September. The drawing will be held at Cook’s Night Out in October.
Winners need not be present to win.  Proceeds to benefit the Women’s Guild projects.

GENEALOGY CLASS begins Monday September 21, at 1:00 p.m., in the basement conference room. Phil Rhea is leading the class and sharing his knowledge and personal experience in genealogy.

BIBLE INTREPRETATION 101 begins at Larksfield Place, Wednesday, 9/23 at 10:00a.m., in the Club Room.
