Sermon Title: Building on Shalom–Living the Promise

FALL FELLOWSHIP DINNER REGISTRATION is underway. You are invited to the Fall Fellowship Dinners at UCC. There will be one dinner scheduled between
mid-September & mid-October, and between mid-October & mid-November. The exact dates will be determined once registration is complete and the hosts are able to contact the participants.

The dinners are a wonderful way for UCC members and those who are guests of our church to get better acquainted. There will be a group of 6-10 who will meet in someone’s home for a potluck dinner and an evening of fellowship and fun.

If you are interested in being a part of the Fall Fellowship Dinners, please sign the sheet on the PIC board in Fellowship Hall. If you are willing to host a dinner, we would appreciate your signing up to be a host. Please indicate the number of people you can accommodate in your home (including host/hosts) The deadline for
registration is next Sunday, September 4th.

NEW MEMBER SUNDAY is next Sunday, September 11, during 10:30 a.m. worship service. We will be introducing new members to the congregation. If you would like to become a member of UCC please contact Heidi in the church office at 316-634-0430.

RAFFLE TICKETS ON SALE Sunday, September 11, 10 tickets for $10 and 25 for $20. Baskets donated for the raffle are on display in Fellowship Hall. Tickets are available through October 9. The drawing will be held at Cook’s Night Out on October 13. Tickets for Cooks Night Out are also available for $15 each. Winners need not be present to win. Proceeds to benefit the Women’s Guild projects.

CENTRAL KANSAS CONCERT OPERA will be performing its inaugural Gala
Concert on September 11 at 7:00 pm at Presser Hall in Lindsborg, KS. The concert will feature Wichita Young Artists, including several of our UCC college singers! Seating is general admission. Tickets are $15; students (with ID) are $5, and are available by calling (785) 227-3380 ext. 8235, or at http://www.messiahfestival.org/shop/

SPONSOR A STUDENT Music Program. Please consider becoming a student choir member sponsor. Sponsorship is $1,500 per student or $150 per month. You may also contribute what you can and partner with other families. The campaign will continue through September.30 Please indicate “Student Scholarship” on the memo line of your check.

MANY THANKS go out to John Carraway for the countless hours he spends here at UCC fixing and maintaining the church and grounds. Recently he has been working on the sump pump and men’s restroom urinal. He also spent four hours helping to clean out the former high school room to get it ready for the pool table installation.
A big thank you to Leigh Aaron-Leary and Michael Leary for donating the pool table. We hope to get some member pool tournaments started and some students interested in playing too.
Thanks also goes to Sharon Pedroja, Anna Mills, Anne McCoy, Connie Buckley, and Barbara McKee for their assistance helping Robin to make the banners for the Fall Kick-Off. They turned out beautifully. Look for them in the sanctuary on September 11.

goldfish crackers, pudding cups, fruit cups or granola bars, bring them to the church by July 31. You may also send a check to UCC with Fill the Gap on the memo line and we will shop for snacks and fresh fruit. A volunteer list will be on the PIC board starting July 10, if you would like to volunteer to help distribute the lunches to kids. A drop box is set up in Fellowship Hall for your snack donations, and a separate box for checks.

BACK TO SCHOOL PROJECT Our goal this year is 50 backpacks with school supplies. UCC and Outreach board is once again partnering with Dellrose United Methodist church to collect and distribute school supplies and backpacks for the 2016-2017 school year. In addition to the school supplies, families also have to pay for textbook rental. The textbook fee for
Kindergarten is $22 and $37 for grades 1-5.

We are asking for donations of school supplies, backpacks, & textbook fees. You are welcome to shop for the supplies listed on the PIC board (available July 10) or send a check to the church and write “Back to School” on the memo line and we will purchase the items for you. The distribution date will be Sunday, August 14, at Dellrose UMC. All supplies & checks will need to be at UCC by Sunday, Aug. 7, in order for us to purchase the items and
deliver them to Dellrose UMC. The Outreach board will take part in the distribution of the Back to School supplies and will report back to you with how you helped these children. If any of you would like to volunteer at the time of distribution, please see Rod Phares or Cyndi Richter. You can make a real difference in a child as they head back to school with the items they need.

Agenda Item #1: Approve the sale of the residence at 1050 N Pinecrest which was transferred to the church by Becky Tucker.

Agenda Item #2: Trudy Matthews has resigned her position as Moderator-Elect due to family obligations. Jane Phares has agreed to step into the

THIS WEEK

BACK TO SCHOOL PROJECT Our goal this year is 50 backpacks with school supplies. UCC and Outreach board is again partnering with Dellrose United Methodist church to collect and distribute school supplies and backpacks for the 2016-2017 school year. In addition, to the school supplies, families also have to pay for textbook rental. The textbook fee for
Kindergarten is $22 and $37 for grades 1-5.

We are asking for donations of school supplies, backpacks, & textbook fees. You are welcome to shop for the supplies listed on the PIC board (available July 10) or send a check to the church and write Back to School on the memo line and we will purchase the items for you. The distribution date will be Sunday, August 14, at Dellrose UMC. All supplies & checks will need to be at UCC by Sunday, Aug. 7, in order for us to purchase the items and
deliver them to Dellrose UMC. The Outreach board will take part in the distribution of the Back to School supplies and will report back to you with how you helped these children. If any of you would like to volunteer at the time of distribution, please see Rod Phares or Cyndi Richter. You can make a real difference in a child as they head back to school with the items they need.

HEAD-TO-TOE HYGIENE PANTRY is open Saturday, July 16, from 8:30-11:45. There will not be a workday on Thursday, July 14.

CHURCH NURSERY WORKER NEEDED to provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care for children while at church, ages newborn to 4 years. Paid position. Individual must be available Sunday mornings and for other special events as listed in the Job Description.
