VOLUNTEER APPRECATION DAY & POTLUCK is today. During the worship service we will recognize all volunteers at UCC, and announce this year’s recipient of the Gary Cox Sustained Service Award honoring a member who personifies longtime involvement in both the community and UCC. Afterwards, there will be a potluck dinner in the fellowship hall. Please bring a covered dish of your choice to share with others.

THIS WEEK

LARKSFIELD FELLOWSHIP meets on January 31, at 10:00, in the club room.

IFM SOUPER BOWL 2018 is Friday, February 2, from 10:30-1:30, at First Presbyterian Church, 525 N. Broadway. Early bird tickets are $15, and $20 at the door. Enjoy your favorite soups from Wichita’s best restaurants and chefs, handmade bowls, “Church lady” desserts, warm bread and complimentary drinks. Proceeds benefit Inter-Faith Ministries homeless shelters. If you would like to donate a dessert, (i.e. pie, cake, cookies, bar cookies, etc…), for this event, please contact the church office at 634-0430.

PORTRAIT SESSIONS begin this week on Friday, February 2, and Saturday, February 3. Please make your appointment today for your portrait session if you haven’t already done so. There is a table in fellowship hall today with open appointment times. Someone will be available to assist you.

VALENTINE’S TEA sponsored by the Women’s Guild will be held on Saturday, February 17, from 2:00-4:00, with an informal fashion show featuring Christopher & Banks clothing modeled by our own guild members. Feel free to invite guests. Ticket sales will begin on Sunday, January 21st, in fellowship hall. Tickets are $15, and sales will be limited to the first sixty people who sign up. Serving begins promptly at 2:00.

JESUS SEMINAR ON THE ROAD – “Paul in Context and in Conflict”, with Brandon Scott & Jason Beduhn, guest speakers. The historical Paul is as intriguing a figure as the historical Jesus, but unlike Jesus, Paul wrote letters. The authentic letters of Paul make it possible to talk about what Paul believed and to discover his vision of a radically transformed world. What becomes of the real Paul when he became the subject of conflict in the church? UCC WOMEN’S GUILD LUNCHEON – This is the last Sunday for you to sign up for the Women’s Guild Salad Luncheon to be held Wednesday, January 17th, at noon in fellowship hall. If you have never attended a Guild meeting before, this meeting will be an opportunity for you to learn what the Guild is all about. Please join us in kicking off the New Year. Today is the last day to sign up on. The Sign-up sheet is located on the PIC board in fellowship hall.

HEAD-TO-TOE HYGIENE PANTRY workday is on Thursday, January 18, from 9-11am, at 2130 E. 21st St. N. The Pantry is open on Saturday, January 20, from 9:00-11:30 a.m.

MENS’ LUNCH is Thursday, January 18, at 11:30, at Scotch & Sirloin. The guest speaker is Gary Pottoroff.

UCC COUNCIL LEADERSHIP TRAINING is on Saturday, January 20, from 10:00-11:30, in fellowship hall.

2018 UCC PICTURE DIRECTORY – It is now time to schedule your portrait session for the 2018 UCC picture directory. The appointment scheduling is now up on our website at: www.ucchurch.org. Just click on the picture at the top of the page that says schedule your photography session. You will then be taken to another page with the same graphic click on it again. You will then be taken to the scheduling page with instructions on how to schedule your session.
Lifetouch will be at the church on February 2-3, and February 20-21, to take photographs between 2:00-9:00 on weekdays, and 10:00-5:00 weekends. 2018 is UCC’s 35th anniversary and we would like to get as many of you in the directory as possible. This directory will also highlight the history of UCC.

There is a copy of the 2017 schedule on the back if you need a reminder of your preferred date. UCC SPRING FELLOWSHIP DINNER registration begins. You are invited to be a part of the Spring Fellowship dinners at UCC. There will be one dinner scheduled in March and one in April. Exact dates will be determined once registration is complete and the hosts contact participants.

The dinners are a wonderful way for UCC members and guests of our church to get better acquainted. A group of 6-10 will meet in someone’s home for a pot-luck dinner and an evening of fellowship and fun. Please register on the sheet located on the PIC board in fellowship hall. If you are willing to host a dinner, please mark it on the sheet. Please indicate in the last column the number of people you can accommodate in your home including host/hostesses. The final date for sign-ups is Sunday, February 11.

CONTRIBUTION FOR CHACARASECA AND COMMISSIONING – Today there will be a onetime collection taken to purchase supplies needed to build a latrine for a family in Chacaraseca. A group of UCC members that are traveling to Chacraseca in January with Paul and will be installing the latrine as one of the projects they will be completing while there. Look for baskets outside the sanctuary and a basket in Fellowship Hall. During January, the coin collection each Sunday will go to support our members’ mission in Chacaraseca. Next month, the coin collection will once again go to the Head-to-toe Hycigne Pantry.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the Annual Meeting of University Congregational Church, Wichita, KS, as provided for in the church’s bylaws. The meeting will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018, in the sanctuary immediately
following the worship service at 11:30.

NEW CHURCH PICTURE DIRECTORY – We are beginning work on our new UCC picture directory for 2018. Lifetouch will be at the church on February 2-3, and February 20-21, to take photographs. Photographs will be taken between 2:00-9:00 on weekdays, and 10:00-5:00 weekends. Please take a look at your calendar to find the best date to have your picture taken for our directory. 2018 is the 35th anniversary for UCC and we would like to get as many of you in the directory as possible. This directory will also highlight the history of UCC. We are now beginning to contact congregants to schedule appointments online.
