THIS WEEK

HOUSE CHURCH – The first House Church meetings begin this Tuesday, March 5th. One group will be at Bill and Vicki Skaer’s, the other group will be at Sharon and Burt Tim’s home.  We are mixing up the two groups and inviting new people to join either one.   The book we are using is The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander, available at Amazon.com. Everything I read today on racism, racial disparity and separateness starts with, “We need to begin the conversation!” We’ve begun. Won’t you join us?   Please contact Bill and Vicki Skaer (wcskaer@aol.com) or Emily Hurt edgehurt@aol.com) if you plan to take part in the conversation. We begin at 7:00pm and end at 8:30pm, on Tuesday, March 5.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT ALIVE – THE NINE BEATS – Wednesday February 27, from 6:00-7:00pm in fellowship hall. A ten-week exploration of the Beatitudes and how we can use them to inspire our faith and improve our lives. Classes run from February 6 to April 10, 2019. See the PIC board for a class schedule.

STEPHEN MINISTERS meets Thursday, March 7, at 11:00 a.m., in the office conference room.

COOK’S NIGHT OUT – is this Thursday evening, March 7, at 6:00pm in fellowship hall.  The SmorgasChorus will be entertaining us.  Burt Tims, Romy Gerould, and Michael Mays, members of our UCC Choir, are members of this renowned, nationally recognized men’s chorus with a unique acapella sound. This group took the stage in front of 7000 people at the Axis Theater at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas, in 2017 to compete with top-rated choruses internationally in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s international competition.  They placed 16th in the world!
Today is your last chance to purchase tickets in fellowship hall following the worship.

YOGA meets every Tuesday at 4:00 and Friday, at 10:00, in fellowship hall. The cost for the Tuesday class is $5 because it is instructor led.

NEXT WEEK

HEAD-TO-TOE HYGIENE PANTRY workday is Thursday, March 14, from 9:00-11:00 a.m., at 2130 E. 21st St. N. The Pantry is open on Saturday, March 16, from 9:00-11:30 a.m.

DINNER FOR THE HOMELESS – Friday, March 29 is our Overflow Men’s Homeless Shelter dinner date. SAVE THE DATE! We will be preparing meals for 125 homeless men and women. Your part will be to contribute to the delicious/healthy menu in some way. Stay tuned for future developments on this worthwhile outreach!

UCC OUTREACH IN ACTION – Our volunteers recently prepared a chili supper for 80 Gammon teachers and staff who worked into the evening hours for parent/teacher conferences.  And for the week of March 4, we invite volunteers who can transport several Gammon Newcomer children and their family members to two evening class music concerts.  New refugee families often do not own cars, so transport volunteers can become valued friends in their lives.  For more detail, contact Marla Flentje, 250-1344.
2019 FLOWER SCHEDULE is located on the PIC board in fellowship hall. We have many dates still available. We would like to get these dates filled quickly so that we are sure to have flowers each Sunday.
